Tested Through Time: The Journey of the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild

In 1969, the conception of SPGG begins when the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s founding father pointedly asked the Polytechnic’s student union leaders: “Why don’t you have a guild of graduates?”

Over its forty-six years of existence, SPGG has gone through many ups and downs—once even at the verge of bankruptcy. With this rich history and illustrious legacy, SPGG successfully published and launched its very own History Book – “Tested Through Time: The Journey of the Singapore Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild” on 21st October 2017.

The book traces the Guild’s developments, milestones, and the highs and the lows, and offer insights into the challenges that it faced.

It serves also to educate the younger generations of our alumni, who might be the future Executive Committees to draw lessons and deep insights through this book. It is also with our honor that Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education, wrote a Foreword inside the book about nurturing the spirit of giving back.
